Rules for Care Plan Billings
Because of the level of remuneration and work required for care planning, there are TWO main rules that apply to care plan billings:
1. Consult items CANNOT be billed with 721/723 or 732/732:
However, other care plan items or vaccines CAN be billed at the same time (e.g
721/723, as well as
2715 or
FLU)
2. Mental Health Care Plan items CAN be billed with consult items, as long as TWO distinct issues were discussed, and the overall time is greater than 30 minutes.
However, the care plan and consult will need to be labelled as NOT RELATED by using the TEXT field in PracSoft at the time of billing:
