Bulletin - August, 2021
It's TWO for ONE!!!
While we can all sadly say that that Delta Variant has brought a significant degree of anxiety, distress and uncertainty to our patients, the one (if only) positive has been the increased interest in vaccination in the broader community.
With that in mind, we wholeheartedly welcome back not one, but TWO GPs to CSMP - Drs Félicité ROSS and Josephine WU! Josephine will be returning solely as a COVID vaccinator, working mostly Fridays to help support the current rollout.
Both Fé and Jo will be helming additional Astrazeneca clinics throughout August and beyond, which will allow us to more than double the number of vaccines delivered into the arms of patients keen to return to some degree of normality.
We still have no timeframe from official sources regarding the arrival of Pfizer vaccines, but given the current circumstances and shortage of supplies, the original ETA of October may be pushed further back. Nevertheless, we are VERY grateful for the assistance that Fe and Jo will be providing!

eReferrals for DHM and I-MED (Formerly Alfred)
In an effort to improve continuity of care with the increased volume of telehealth consultations the current lockdown has brought with it, both DHM and I-Med (the new owners of the Alfred Imaging group) have further improved their eReferral capabilities.
DHM's eReferral system comes with the proviso that it should be used exclusively for telehealth, as it involves a digital transcription of requests into a QR format for a patient to then scan at a collection site, without the need for a paper form. To view the information for processing DHM eReferrals, click HERE.
I-Med (the new Alfred Imaging) is a slightly simpler process from our end. The configuration means that once a referral is generated, clicking the Print & Send button once a referral is complete, sends an SMS to the patient, from which they can choose the site for their imaging, as well as a date and time - the only setting that needs to be changed (if not already your default), is choosing I-MED Radiology as the preferred provider.
Accessing the 'Cheat Sheets'
With the expectations that there may be further changes to the MBS, the shortcut sheets (or 'cheat sheets') that have previously been stocked in the consulting rooms are now available from the Staff Web Portal:
Incident Reporting: "when/What do I report?"
There are a range of circumstances that generally require an incident report to be completed:
- when there is a breach of protocol (clinical, cold chain or otherwise)
- when an emergency intervention is required (i.e if police or ambulance are called to the practice)
- when staff (clinical or administrative) are threatened and a therapeutic relationship needs to be terminated.
While this list is not comprehensive, it does cover the most frequently occurring types of incident that should be reported!
Coming Events...
- Lyanna Xin Yi Stockbridge, born 12th July. Thank you all for your kindness and generosity during her first weeks among us!
- Doctors' Committee - Thursday, 12th August (1-2:30pm)
- Nurses Meeting - Friday, 13th August (1-2pm)
(Please Note: due to the current lockdown and restrictions, the Practice Lunch for this month will be postponed - an alternative practice activity is in the works...stay tuned!)
2000 Doses Given!
By 10am on Tuesday, 3rd August, we'll have delivered just over 2000 AstraZeneca doses to our patients. Thank you to all staff - doctors, nurses and administrative - for making this possible!
Next stop 3000!
