Entering a Referral

Allied Health (psychologists, dietitians, physiotherapists, etc.) require a referral in order for a patient to receive a rebate for their care (basically to show that they've been asked to take part in a patient's care).

For patients attending allied health services at CSMP, we need to ensure that a referral has been entered into the patient's billing profile in PracSoft.

To check if they HAVE a referral, from the Waiting Room in Pracsoft, right click and select 'view patient':
Once here, you'll need to check to see if a referral has been entered for the patient:
Now, there are TWO (2) ways to enter a referral if it is missing; the best way of doing it is when the patient is being billed for their consult, so we'll do THAT one!

If the patient DOESN'T have a referral, you'll see it in the billing window here:
At the BOTTOM of the billing window, you'll see a 'referral' button (N.B: this button ONLY appears in the billing window for patients visiting allied health practitioners!):
Click on the button, and another window will appear to enter the details for the referral. Be sure to enter information in all the fields, particularly the REASON, DATE and REFERRAL reason
Once the details are entered, the referral will appear in the patient's billing profile.
N.B: unless the patient supplies you with a referral on the day, you may need to look in their clinical file to find it!
OK, got it!
