Faxes In and Out

Faxes

Faxes arrive with great frequency at CSMP, and for a handful of reasons - the foremost being it allows a number of health care providers a 'back-up' in case digital and postal results are not received. Faxes will most frequently fall into these categories:

1. Results (Pathology/Imaging REPORTS)
2. Medical Records (discharge summaries, copies of letters, incoming and outgoing)
3. Promotional Material (Sample Requests, etc.)

Each of these is handled slightly differently:

1. Results and Incoming Medical Records will arrive electronically through the practice email (see the button below for details)

2. Medical Record Requests: any request for records needs to have the Secure Delivery of Records transfer form faxed back to the requesting practice in order to confirm the FORMAT and DELIVERY EMAIL of the requesting practice (see below):
If the practice addressed does NOT appear in the Best Practice Contacts, please add them, then await the response and return it to the Practice Manager's pigeonhole.

3. Promotional material (with the exception of sample offers) should be given to the Practice Manager. Any drug sample offers should be allocated to the NURSES.

Outgoing Faxes

Any outgoing faxes (once transmitted) need to be left in the fax tray for up to ONE (1) hour to ensure receipt.
If the material faxed originated from the patient record, it can be left for shredding.
However, if the faxed material is NOT recorded in the patient record, it should be left for scanning.

NB: *All Rx should be posted to the appropriate pharmacy after faxing!
